We commend Raulli et al. on an important contribution to the traumatic aortic injury
(TAI) literature, prefacing over 2,400 cases of TAI in pediatric patients and young
adults.

In this article, Raulli and colleagues found a considerably lower mortality rate
in patients who underwent repair with thoracic endografting (TEVAR) versus nonoperative
management (3.9% vs. 23.1%, P < 0.001). Based on these findings, the authors suggest that the reluctance or inability
to intervene with TEVAR in the pediatric population explains the higher rate of mortality
seen in those treated nonoperatively. To read this article in full you will need to make a payment
